Ex NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett He died June 27 in an alleged drowning on a Florida beach, in keeping with Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. He was 35 years old.
Rescue services were called to the beach in Destin around 2:12 p.m. local time following reports that a bunch of people struggled to get back to shore from a close-by spit, in keeping with an agency press release.
Authorities said the person – later identified as Mallett – went under and was not respiration when rescuers pulled him out. Life-saving measures were taken before Mallett was rushed to a close-by hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The official cause of death has not been disclosed.
Mallett first appeared on the national football scene in 2007 when he played for the University of Michigan. He transferred to the University of Arkansas the following yr, although NCAA rules prevented him from playing for his recent school until 2009. He served as quarterback for the Arizona Razorbacks for 2 seasons before being drafted to the NFL in 2011.
