European Union antitrust regulators may order Alphabet to sell part of its ad technology business, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Monday.
Over the past few years, Google’s dominance in internet marketing has been increasingly challenged. Complaints from rivals about her allegedly anti-competitive practices have led to antitrust investigations in multiple continents into her practices.
The European Commission, which launched an investigation into Google’s promoting activities in 2022, said on the time that it was concerned about Google’s presence at just about all levels of the net display promoting supply chain.
Breakdown orders from the EU competition authority are rare. Nonetheless, frustration mounts after Google failed to handle competition concerns, the source said.
