SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Gwyneth Paltrow to appear in court this week after being sued 2016 hit-and-run ski accident on the slopes – and the founding father of Goop could rise up for herself, The Post discovered.
Retired Optometrist Terry Sanderson sued the health-conscious star for $3.1 million in 2019, claiming that she seriously injured him when she “got uncontrolled” skiing and bumped into him on the Park City, Utah resort on February 26, 2016.
Sanderson said he stayed with traumatic brain injurybroken ribs and lack of enjoyment of life – but Paltrow’s lawyers say he’s lying.
The Oscar-winning actress objected, claiming it was Sanderson who rammed into her and delivered a “whole body blow”.
The 2 will now face off in a Park City courtroom, with the trial starting Tuesday morning and lasting eight days.
Sources close to Paltrow told The Post he would testify in his own defense, though it’s unclear when he’ll take the stand.

Sanderson, who was 69 when Paltrow filed a counterclaim in 2021, told his doctor a yr before the accident that he was blind in a single eye, according to the actress.
The retired ophthalmologist also “admits she has no memory of what happened,” her lawyers wrote within the counterclaim.
“SM. Paltrow remembers very clearly what happened. She was having fun with skiing together with her family on vacation in Utah when Plaintiff – who was uphill from Mrs. Paltrow – stabbed into her back… Mrs. Paltrow was offended with Plaintiff anyway she said. The plaintiff apologized, “we read within the document.

“Other than his vision problems, he had 15 other chronic health problems,” her lawyers wrote.
Paltrow’s attorney also claims that the plaintiff’s doctors performed brain scans that showed “no deficits in his cognitive functioning” after the accident.
Eight jurors and two alternates were chosen to the Utah District Court jury last week.
The judge ruled that Sanderson was not entitled to punitive damages and will only claim $300,000 in damages, not the $3.1 million he had hoped for.
Paltrow, 50, is searching for a paltry $1 in damages plus the prices of her legal fees “because her injuries were relatively minor,” according to court documents.

The defendant doctor said Paltrow was indifferent after she allegedly collided with him, one other of his claims that she denies.
“The undisputed facts don’t support the claim that Mrs. Paltrow was hit and run,” her lawyers said, adding that even ski expert Sanderson “concluded that the evidence showed that defendant Paltrow’s actions after the collision were “reasonable within the circumstances.” and that she remained on the scene.
Solicitors for the ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ actress also criticized Sanderson in court papers, claiming that despite his claims of significant injuries, he had traveled the world quite a few times for the reason that accident, including spending three weeks in Thailand, two weeks within the Netherlands and two weeks in Central Europe .
