Town of Halifax in eastern Canada declared a state of emergency late Sunday night after a fire caused evacuations and power outages.
“Emergency services are working across the clock to maintain people protected and reduce the risks posed by wildfires,” town of Nova Scotia said in a press release.
The hearth sent a huge cloud of smoke over the port city.

City officials said the state of emergency will remain in place for seven days unless it’s lifted or prolonged.
Nova Scotia Power temporarily shut off power to the affected area, it said on Twitter.
Telecoms firms, including Rogers and Bell Aliant of Canada, said in Twitter posts that some customers in communities evacuated resulting from the fires could experience service disruptions.
