The Gold Coast woman who got the photo, Wendy Martin, said she was surprised by the look of the photo.
She said she was just attempting to capture the sunset on her iPhone and captured a wierd angle – which she claimed was not edited.
Locals rushed to the comments to tell shocked Facebook users that the bridge was not as scary or spectacular in person.
Many have joked that the toll is probably the most shocking a part of the bridge.
The unique bridge opened in 1986 and a replica in 2010.
These are officially generally known as the Sir Leo Hielscher Gateway Bridges.
The bridges stand roughly 212 feet at their highest point over the Brisbane River.
The Murarrie Tollbooth, situated directly south of the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges, charges an everyday automotive fee of $3.43.
“The one concern of ppl [people] should cross that little bridge, that’s the value of crossing it. Now it is a nightmare!” one person said.
“It doesn’t look so tacky in real life, the worst thing about this bridge is the tolls,” wrote one other.
The Facebook group “The View from YOUR Window” was created by a lady in South Africa in 2020 throughout the Covid lockdown.
Originally intended for her family and friends, it has grown to a worldwide group of 1.5 million members.
“People showcase their homes, modest or grand, sometimes with a cup of their hand or a furry baby nearby. I like it,” explains Marian Viljoen in the outline of the group.
