In keeping with Da’Vine star Joy Randolph, HBO remains to be hot and anxious about its controversial “torture porn” series The Idol.
“I believe everyone’s intention is to have a second season. It was never meant to be a limited series,” she said recently Variety said. “Nothing is official, but HBO is kind of blissful.”
Randolph, 37, stars as Destiny, Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) manager who has a foul feeling about seedy nightclub owner Tedros (Weekendaka Abel Tesfaye), who considers himself the captain of the pop star’s profession.
The show’s first season was widely criticized by fans on social media for being “nasty” shudder and raunchy sex scenes – but Randolph said there may very well be more.
When The Post contacted HBO on Thursday for a press release as as to if “The Idol” will return for Season 2, representatives pointed to tweet posted on June 15.

“Misinformed that a choice has been made on the second season of The Idol. That did not occur and we will not wait to share the subsequent episode with you on Sunday night.”
The Post also reached out to representatives for Levinson and Tesfaye for comment.
The Season 1 finale “The Idol” airs Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on HBO and streams on max.
Even before the show aired, 13 anonymous sources who claimed to be near the project spoke to Rolling Stone about how the show become a “rape fantasy” when “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson was added because the creator of the project .
When asked concerning the article, she maintained for Variety that her impressions of the set were positive – but confirmed that one detail was “absolutely 100% true”.

“There have been long hours. But every program is like that. I didn’t feel used for hours. There was nothing out of the peculiar, offensive or crazy,” she said.
Depp also recently defended the show, claiming that the sex scenes are “necessary” and “intentional”.
“We all know we’re doing something provocative and we can’t back down from it,” she said Australian Vogue. “That is something I knew I used to be going to do from the start. I’ve never been thinking about doing anything puritanical.
“It’s okay if this show is not for everybody and that is okay – I believe the very best play is [polarizing]”.
