This grandma wants everyone to know that Harry Styles is a “Cute Creature”.
Reina Lafantaisie is recognized online as Styles’ oldest and largest superfan at 78, they usually share a one-of-a-kind bond.
The Ontario, Canadian resident has been a fan of the 29-yr-old singer since his first X Factor audition in 2010, and now spends time supporting him in his solo profession by attending his first concert in January 2023.
Grandma recalled how excited she felt when her granddaughter Renee told her she had gotten tickets to Styles’ Love on Tour in Los Angeles.
“I desired to see him a lot that nothing would stop me,” she told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
Reina and Renee wore pink feather boas for the show – an adjunct that became a staple of the tour – and Reina admitted she felt like a teenager again, her heart pounding in her chest.
“I like live shows, I’ve seen a lot in my life like Elvis and Rod Stewart – but for my part he’s higher than them combined,” Reina said.
Renee, 38, published a video for TikTok in December 2022, the grandmother of 5 is obsessive about Styles and claims to be the “best entertainer” since Elvis Presley – who has since gone viral and now has 413,400 views and 67,200 likes.
“Don’t correct me, I’m talking about Harry Styles,” Reina told her family in the video.
Shortly after the video went viral, the Grammy Awards production team discovered and invited Reina to present Styles with the Album of the 12 months award for his album “Harry’s House”.
“I used to be so fearful that I mixed up and skim the improper name, but once I announced that he won, the hall burst into cheers,” said Reina. “When he ran onto the stage, he gave me a big hug and it was so sincere.”
When she discovered that Harry’s team wanted her to go to the awards as his superfan, she was “shocked” and “couldn’t imagine my luck”.
On the day of the show, she handed the producers a card she had written for the “As It Was” singer, assuming he would never see her and even know who she was.
But during the awards ceremony, a video of superfans of Album of the 12 months nominees appeared on the big screen as they speak about why their favorite artist should win – and it turned out that Reina was improper.
After Styles accepted the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for Harry’s House, he walked over to his oldest superfan, shook her hand and frivolously kissed her cheek.
“I could not imagine my idol recognized me. I felt like I used to be dreaming,” she said, “though that wasn’t the only sweet interaction that they had that night.
“During a business break, I got as much as the bathroom and was standing in line once I saw Harry again – and to my shock, he headed towards me,” Reina said. “I could not imagine how humble he was in thanking me for, in his words, my beautiful card.”
The generosity didn’t end there. When she returned to her hotel room, Reina was greeted with a basket stuffed with goods from Styles and his team.
“I take heed to his music all day because his songs make me feel good and his lyrics say all the pieces you could find out about him,” said Reina
“She exudes love and kindness and is an overall good one that radiates a loving energy – our world needs more people like Harry Styles.”
Reina listens to his albums very first thing in the morning, has been to quite a few live shows around the world, presented him with a Grammy Award and had special backstage sessions with the singer – lamenting her as an icon amongst Styles fans often known as Harries, who dubbed her “Leader Harries”.
She says that the support of Harries and Styles himself added 20 years to her life.
She recently attended his “Love on Tour” concert in Coventry on May 22 and 23 and was invited backstage to satisfy him – and he serenaded her “Reunited and It Feels So Good” by Peaches and Herb.
“It was so surreal and his smile completely lit up the room. He makes the world a higher place by being “kind” to people and is a gem of a human being – so humble, kind and caring,” Reina enthused. “It gives me hope.”
