The producers of Duggar’s latest documentaries say yes “thrilled” by the “far-reaching feature” of the controversial church of the infamous family.

Executive producer Julia Willoughby Nason admitted she was surprised at how the Church’s ideology is “so ingrained in our contemporary culture.”
“It’s shocking to me. It is also shocking for me to listen to survivors’ stories,” she told People. “I feel like I’m a lady on this culture, whether I come from a spot with a high scrutiny system as an IBLP or not, just being a lady by nature, I can discover with the themes of abuse and trauma we undergo through the lifelines of these people.”

The four-part limited series – slated to premiere Friday, June 2 on Amazon Prime Video – features Jim Bob and Michelle’s second eldest daughter, Jill Dillard, 32, and her cousin, Amy King, 36.
Earlier, they spoke about their upbringing.
The documentary series also cites other sources. In the trailer, one person might be heard claiming, “Gothard has turned every father right into a cult leader and each house into an island.”
One other woman in the trailer claims, “The best feature of Bill Gothard’s teachings is authority. Children obey their parents, wives obey their husbands, everyone obeys Bill Gothard.”

The Duggar family rose to fame through various iterations of their “19 Kids and Counting” show, which resulted in 2015 after allegations that the oldest child, Josh Duggar, 35, had inappropriately touched several underage girls in his teens.
The spinoff show “Counting On”, which focused on older children in the family, was canceled in 2021 after Josh was arrested on child pornography charges.
He was found guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography during his trial and was sentenced to roughly 12 and a half years in prison last yr.
In her 2023 memoir “Getting Truly Free”, Duggar’s daughter Jinger Vuolo, 29, compared Josh to Gothard.

Crist said there may be enough IBLP history that the team will consider a second project about former supporters.
Jim Bob, 57, and Michelle, 56, haven’t commented publicly on the documentary series.
