Worldwide wrestling entertainment
It’s clear why Worldwide wrestling entertainment would really like the headlines to be concerning the prospect of bettors legally betting on matches, not all of it to do with trying to raise the corporate’s potential sale price.
Betting increases fan engagement. Just ask the NFL, MLB, NCAA – even the individuals who organize ping pong. Everyone finds an enormous advantage when fans can bet on matches.
Massachusetts just launched mobile betting on Friday, but nobody there can legally bet on “Friday Night SmackDown” matches. “WWE shouldn’t be an approved sports league” Massachusetts Games Commission draws attention.
Colorado regulators they should not comfortable that the prospect has been released in any respect. “The Colorado Division of Gaming shouldn’t be currently and has not considered allowing sports betting on WWE matches,” they said. “At no time has any Colorado state gaming regulator spoken to WWE about including betting on our approved betting list.”
Colorado’s statute prohibits “betting on events with fixed or predicted outcomes or purely random”, including the Academy Awards. Seven other states allow betting on the Oscars in some form. Indiana and Recent Jersey don’t allow live betting and limit the dimensions of bets.
Like most states, Michigan only accepts requests from gambling operators or platforms, and WWE hasn’t even made a request, according to the state’s gaming oversight commission. issued a public statement advising WWE to work with the gaming industry.
This will be a fair greater hurdle than bypassing gaming regulators.
“NFW!” Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM, responded if he could be willing to take bets on WWE matches. BetMGM is the leader of the American iGaming market, i.e. casino games played online. He spoke at iGamingNext, an industry conference held earlier this week. (NFW stands for “no f—-ing way”. Discuss smackdown!)
FanDuel’s response was not as colourful or as public, but a spokesperson said it was highly unlikely that the country’s sports betting leader would ever accept the bet.
DraftKings he declined, saying it could be up to regulators.
FanDuel, owned by Flutter Entertainment, says that allowing bets on the Oscars annually is totally different than considering the sheer volume of scripted weekly shows at the least twice every week from WWE.
The legal gambling industry insists on avoiding scandals. The American Gaming Association, which represents each industrial and tribal operators, told CNBC: “Each regulators and operators must believe within the integrity of the competition.”
Gambling professionals are skeptical that the big amount of hassle and risk involved in betting on scheduled events is price what is probably going to be quite modest when it comes to betting activity.
“Ultimately, most industry stakeholders seem to see WWE betting as much more visually demanding than awards show betting,” said Sharp Alpha Advisors managing director Lloyd Danzig.
