San Francisco will host a third Super Bowl in 2026 as the Bay Area was approved to host the event Monday by NFL owners at the league’s spring meeting.
This might be the second Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium, situated in Santa Clara, since opening in 2014.
In 2016, it was the first Super Bowl played in the Bay Area in over 30 years, Super Bowl 50 as the Broncos defeated the Panthers 24-10 to mark Peyton Manning’s final game before his retirement in March of that 12 months.
“The Bay Area was an incredible host for Super Bowl 50, and we’re excited to bring back the Super Bowl,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a Monday statement. “We glance forward to working with the 49ers and the Bay Area Host Committee to create a powerful Super Bowl LX in 2026 that showcases all the great things the region has to offer.”

Prior to 2016, the 49ers won Super Bowl 19 in 1985 by defeating the Dolphins at Stanford Stadium to take home their second Lombardi Trophy in 4 seasons.
San Francisco’s confirmed bid continues the recent trend of West Coast teams hosting the Super Bowl with Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium and Glendale, Arizona at State Farm Stadium, having hosted the last two title games.
Prior to 2026, Las Vegas will host Super Bowl 58 at Allegiant Stadium, and Latest Orleans is scheduled to host Super Bowl 59 at the Caesars Superdome.

Off-Stadium Super Bowl Week events are expected to happen throughout the Bay Area, closer to the waterfront according to San Francisco 49ers president Al Guido.
“We’re honored to once more host the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium and be the stewards of one in every of the biggest sporting events in the world,” said Guido. “Since hosting Super Bowl 50 in 2016, Levi’s Stadium has solidified its status as a world-class venue. I’m confident that Super Bowl LX might be a great event that can profit the entire community.”
Levi Stadium will even be a part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the summer, amongst several other venues in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
