A New Jersey home built for Macy’s heir Herbert Straus in the Twenties went up for sale for $1.3 million, however the offer didn’t last long.
The offer has been made and the spread is now in contract with a recent owner for the primary time since 1953, The Post has learned.
Straus’s father, Macy’s co-owner and U.S. Congressman Isidor Straus, died on the Titanic along with his wife Ida, who refused a seat in the lifeboat to remain by her husband’s side because the ship sank.
Originally built on 143 acres, the estate – situated in Middletown – has been converted into a singular dairy barn.

Now often called Cobble Close Farm, the 13-acre estate includes 4 private residences in French Norman style built with materials imported from Europe, including stucco and ceramic tiles.
The property is surrounded by fountains, gardens, a swimming pool and lawns surrounded by Greco-Roman statues and a conservatory

The lounge opens onto a cobbled courtyard.
Meanwhile, the master suite has its own walled courtyard and is provided with a fountain and sun loungers.

To 1 side of the property is the Navesink Country Club. On the opposite side, there are stables for horses and pastures for off-road riding.
The property has been featured in quite a few movies, based on the listing, and has appeared in quite a few advertisements, including for Brooks Brothers, Victoria’s Secret and fashion magazines equivalent to Vogue.
“I’m very excited to bring such a singular piece of history to market,” said stock agent Katherine Raftery of Resources Real Estate in an announcement. “This can be a truly rare opportunity – the setting and architecture are something that should be seen to be fully appreciated.”
“The property is ‘available for farming’ and generates income from the sale of agricultural goods. What’s more, the extra income comes from renting the property for Navesink Country Club.
The house is a ten minute drive from a few of the most effective beaches.
