In a Slack message sent to employees on Friday, Salesforce co-CEO Marc Benioff stated that the corporate’s new employees are not productive enough and asked what the explanation is perhaps.
Benioff asked, “Aren’t we constructing tribal lore with new hires without an office culture?” first in the message reported by CNBC. Benioff reportedly continued by attempting to tone down the intensity of the query with a joking “asking for a friend” angel emoji.
Based on CNBC, Benioff stressed that this was “a difficulty he said affected employees who joined Salesforce this 12 months and last 12 months.” It was clear that the performance issue might be partly related to the character of widespread distant working, which has develop into way more common on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement to CNBC, a spokesperson for the corporate said that Salesforce has a “hybrid work environment that enables leaders and teams to work together for a purpose. They will resolve when and where they meet to collaborate, innovate and drive customer success.”
Salesforce, like many corporations, is grappling with a faltering economy, notes CNBC, in addition to the departures of C-Suite executives, comparable to the upcoming departure of Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield.
Benioff’s news reportedly sparked quite a few reactions, many positive. Still, he was unhappy that it went public, saying in part that he hoped staff “agreed that it is also disappointing that our private conversations here were almost immediately released to the general public media.”
