A number of the world’s biggest names are paying tribute to British guitar phenom Jeff Beck after his death on Wednesday aged 78.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who rose to prominence with The Yardbirds, died “suddenly” after contracting bacterial meningitis, his representative said.
Among the many A-listers who paid their respects was Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who took to Twitter to share the news of the late musician.
“With the passing of Jeff Beck, we’ve got lost an amazing man and certainly one of the best guitarists on this planet. We are going to all miss him very much.” he wrote on Twitter.
Jagger’s bandmate Ronnie Wood also paid tributetweeting: “Now that Jeff is gone, I feel like certainly one of my brothers has left this world and I’ll miss him dearly. I send my deepest sympathy to Sandra, his family and all who loved him. I need to thank him for all our first days together at the Jeff Beck Group, taking America by storm.”
Beck and Wood formed “The Jeff Beck Group” with singer Rod Stewart in 1967 next messageWood wrote that they broke “all the principles” as a band.
“It was unbelievable groundbreaking rock and roll!” he wrote. “Listen to the amazing song “Plynth” in his honor. Jeff, I’ll all the time love you. God bless.”
Stewart also mourned Beck’s death on social media, writing that the musician “was on one other planet”.

“He took me and Ronnie Wood to the US within the late 60s in his Jeff Beck Group and we’ve not looked back since,” “I don’t desire to discuss it” the hitmaker wrote on Twitter.
“He was certainly one of the few guitarists who listened to my singing live and responded. Jeff, you were one of the best, my man. Thanks for every thing. TEAR.”
Elsewhere, fellow rocker Ozzy Osbourne was among the many first to pay tribute to Beck.

“I cannot express how saddened I’m to hear of @JeffBeckMusic’s passing. What a terrible loss to his family, friends and many fans.” Black Sabbath frontman wrote on Twitter.
“It was an enormous honor to know Jeff and an incredible honor to have him play on my latest album, #PatientNumber9. Long live #JeffBeck.”
Osbourne’s former bandmate Tony Iommi also did paid tribute on Twittersaying he was “completely shocked” to discover the sad news.

“Jeff was such a pleasant person and an impressive iconic genius guitarist – there won’t ever be one other Jeff Beck,” he wrote. “His playing was unique and outstandingly sensible! He can be missed. RIP Jeff-Tony.
Nile Rodgers, whose friendship with Beck has spanned a long time and saw him produce the Flash album in 1985, said the world had lost “certainly one of the best guitarists [sic] on a regular basis.”
“He gave me a lot!” Rodgers shared on Instagram.
Beck’s former bandmate from the Yardbirds Jimmy Page hit Instagram to pay his respects to him, writing, “The Six-String Warrior is not any longer here for us to marvel at the spell he could solid on our mortal emotions. Jeff could transmit music from the air. His technique is exclusive. His imagination seemed limitless. Jeff, I’ll miss you and your tens of millions of fans. Jeff Beck Rest in Peace.”

Pink Floyd David Gilmour tweeted that he was “devastated to learn of the death of my friend and hero, Jeff Beck, whose music has thrilled and inspired me and countless others for therefore a few years.”
“Polly and my thoughts go to his lovely wife Sandra. He’ll remain in our hearts ceaselessly, he added.
Kiss bandmates Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons shared their tributes on Twitter Stanley tweeting“WOW. What terrible news.
“Jeff Beck, certainly one of the guitar masters of all time is dead,” he continued. “Starting with The Yardbirds and The Jeff Beck Group, he forged a trail that was not possible to follow. Play now and all the time.
Meanwhile, Simmons wrote“Heartbreaking news of the death of the nice Jeff Back. No one played guitar like Jeff. Please get the primary two Jeff Beck Group albums and see the greatness. TEAR.”
The Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson called Beck “a superb guitarist”.
“I’m very sad to hear about Jeff Beck’s passing” Wilson wrote on Twitter. “Jeff was a superb guitar player and my band and I got to see it up close after we were on tour with him in 2013. One among the highlights we did was “Danny Boy” – we each loved that song. Love and mercy to Jeff’s family.”
The eight-time Grammy award winner leaves behind his wife Sandra.
