“But I’m hearing all these items from Kristine and Michael that never really happened.”
Michael Barnett and his then-wife Kristine Barnett adopted what they thought was a 6-year-old girl named Natalia in April 2010.

Only six months later, the parents allegedly witnessed violent behavior and questioned whether Natalia was really a toddler or an adult woman who cheated on the family.
According to Michael Barnett, the alleged behavior included hoarding knives in her room, urinating on her foster siblings, and even allegedly trying to kill her foster mom with Pledge cleaner.
In 2012, the Barnetts asked the court to legally change Natalia’s birth 12 months from 2003 to 1989, which was granted and altered her age from 8 to 22.

The alleged girl’s parents landed in hot water in 2013 when it was discovered that Natalia was living alone in an apartment in Lafayette, Indiana, leading to an investigation and their arrests.
In 2019, the couple, who have since divorced, were accused of neglecting a dependent.
