“Regarding this week’s SWS, I imagine you are confusing a stereotypical popular culture term that does not really have an agreed upon definition with an entire misunderstanding of what monastic life actually is. Truthfully, it’s a large number. Spending time away from distractions and outside influences to focus, think deeply and crystallize your ideas, and then bring those ideas out into the world is real progress. Breakthroughs are usually not achieved through groupthink or committees. I could go on, but you are essentially suggesting a false alternative.“
