Meghan Markle’s ‘Archetypes’ podcast on Spotify is not going to be renewed for a second season, The Post can confirm.
A source near the situation told The Post on Thursday that media company Archewell, founded by Prince Harry, 38, and Markle, 41, had not produced enough content to receive the complete payment of the roughly $20 million deal the couple signed in 2020.
The news comes after struggling Spotify announced this month it could cut 200 jobs because it reimagines its approach to podcasting.
In a joint statement to The Post, Spotify and Archewell Audio said they’d “mutually agreed to part ways and are pleased with the series we have now created together.”
“Meghan continues to create more content for the Archetypes audience on one other platform,” added a spokeswoman for Archewell Productions. Wall Street Journal.
The Post reached out to Harry and Markle’s representatives for comment.
Archetypes, which explored the labels that hold women back, was the one project the pair produced for Spotify during their two-and-a-half years together.
The podcast premiered in August 2022.
There have only been 12 episodes of “Archetypes” featuring guests reminiscent of Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Mindy Kaling and Paris Hilton.
Each episode often lasted about an hour.
The Duchess of Sussex suspended the podcast in September throughout the official mourning for Queen Elizabeth II.
Trevor Noah, Andy Cohen and Judd Apatow appeared in the ultimate episode of “Archetypes”, “Manifesting Cultural Change” which fell on November 29.
Harry and Markle also signed a deal with Netflix in 2020 for around $100 million.
Their six-part, eloquent documentary series “Harry and Meghan” was Successful for the streamer last 12 months.
Harry also shocked the world with his 400-page memoir Spare, released in January.
As for Markle’s future, the previous Suits actress and her WME team could also be seeking to land appearances in film and tv production, brand partnerships and “general business constructing,” but returning to acting will probably be of no interest.
