An Australian woman has shared horrific photos of injuries she claims were taken after she was raped by a butler at a $3,000-a-night luxury resort.
Xu Yitong, a 26-year-old student from Sydney, arrived within the Maldives on June 6 for a brief solo trip.
She was as a result of leave on June 10 but decided to increase her stay and booked a room on the Ritz-Carlton Maldives within the Fari Islands.
But here’s where trouble arose after a tourist was assigned a butler, a feature service at a luxury resort that recently received Forbes Travel Guide’s 2023 Five-Star Award.
Shortly after checking in, Xu, who’s of Chinese descent but now lives in Australia, said she unintentionally damaged her phone with water and was unable to contact her family.

When a butler was sent to her room for help, he lent her his phone, but then allegedly began sexually harassing her.
Xu, who agreed to waive anonymity to share her story, filed a grievance on June 11 about “criminal sexual contact” at Thulusdhoo Station with Sergeant Abdul Harris.
But on June 18, she took to Twitter, claiming the officers weren’t helpful.
Describing the alleged incident, she said it began when an unnamed butler began behaving inappropriately towards her in her room.
“He took a bit of chewing gum, began chewing and asked if I wanted a kiss, which made me feel numb,” she said.

“I used to be empty. I said “no, I do not like physical contact”. I took my computer and translated it for him in case he didn’t understand.
“Then he said, ‘Don’t be concerned, you’ll be able to be okay with me,'” he leaned towards me and touched my lips.
“I didn’t open my mouth and he said, ‘Yoly, you haven’t got to be ashamed, sex is OK,’ and he tried to force his mouth open with his tongue.”
Xu further claimed that the butler even asked “am I gay” when she rejected his advances and “didn’t let him” touch her lips.

“I used to be in pajamas. He began shoving his tongue into my mouth and said, “I will be a gentleman,” she continued.
“Then he pushed me to the bed and commenced taking off my pants, then put his dick in my mouth twice. Then he went ahead and touched me privately and tried to have sex with me.”
Meeting the visitor’s resistance, the butler allegedly masturbated on her computer screen, then wiped his semen with a towel and left, telling Xu that he just “needed time to open up.”
Xu said she reported the incident to hotel managers, who allegedly tried to confiscate a laptop and a soaked towel from her room.
“I told them that this could only be reported to the police. The police got here and took my statement. They took samples from my mouth and told me it might take every week to get the outcomes and that I should leave before the outcomes are available in.”

Officers reportedly told her they’d “no reason to detain the worker.”
Xu further claimed that she underwent medical examinations and had bruises throughout her body. She said she was then kicked out of the hotel because “they might now not arrange accommodation for me.”
She said: “I left the hotel and there wasn’t even an apology. You simply train your housekeepers to ask for suggestions. I used to be raped in your hotel and you probably did nothing. You said I did it to get a free stay. I paid the total amount to the hotel. I’m Chinese living in Australia. My family is reputable and wealthy.
Local media reported that Maldives police had yet to make any arrests based on the tourist’s grievance.

They said they’d taken “needed samples” for the investigation but declined to supply further information on the matter.
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel within the Maldives said it was investigating the tourist’s claim and was cooperating with local investigators.
“We take allegations like this seriously and the matter is currently before the police,” the spokesman said.
“The protection and well-being of our guests and associates is of the utmost importance to us.
“We proceed to cooperate with the authorities and are in constant contact with the guest.”
