Electron rockets are being prepared for launch.

Rocket Laboratory said on Tuesday it had doubled its order backlog – from around $241 million in contracts at the top of 2021 to $503.6 million at the top of 2022 – and made progress on its Neutron rocket under development.
“Overall, we’re very, very glad with 2022, and what’s vital to me is that we did what we said we might do,” Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck told CNBC.
“We’re happy with the implementation and can implement it this 12 months,” added Beck.
The space company also reported fourth-quarter revenue of $51.8 million, up 88% from the prior 12 months, with an adjusted EBITDA lack of $14.5 million – up 75% from the fourth quarter of the 12 months ago. It had $484.3 million in money at the top of the quarter.
Rocket Lab conducted two successful Electron launches in the course of the quarter, generating $12 million in revenue. Its wider Space Systems division continues to generate the majority of its revenue, generating $38.8 million.
The corporate also announced the completion of the primary production constructing for its upcoming Neutron rocket, built at NASA’s Wallops Aviation Facility in Virginia. Rocket Lab has began the production of the primary Neutron tank designs, in addition to the development of the launch pad for the rocket. As for the subsequent major development milestone, Beck told CNBC that it should be when “complete tanks” leave his factory.
“For a composite launch vehicle, when the actual parts come out of the molds, that is a much stronger indicator of progress than anything,” said Beck. “I feel attending to the purpose where we actually manufacture these parts is a large milestone in itself, but the larger milestone is when the tank actually rolls the door.”
Along with the outcomes, Rocket Lab announced a contract for 4 Electron launches from satellite company Capella Space. The launch of those missions is scheduled for the second half of the 12 months.

Rocket Lab shares are up 19% this 12 months from Tuesday’s close of $4.50.
Last month, the corporate successfully launched its first mission from america. This 12 months, he intends to finish as many as 14 consecutive Electron launches. Rocket Lab expects launch revenue in the primary quarter of 2023 to be around $18 million, and Space Systems expects $32 to $35 million.
Beck noted that Rocket Lab’s profitability path is affected by “really large investments” in Neutron.
“I do not think we’re very removed from our model in that respect, but that is an enormous think about the spending rate and ultimately the success of the Neutron program,” Beck said.
The corporate also announced that David Cowan of Bessemer Enterprise Partners is leaving Rocket Lab’s board in the primary quarter after nine years advising the corporate.
The corporate’s Electron rocket launched from an LC-2 at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on January 24, 2023.
