It’s sunny finally in Wrexham, Wales, where a football club has been plagued for an extended time he got promoted to a significant league – much to the delight of actors and co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The actors spent $2.5 million on Wrexham AFC – a Welsh football team that has been relegated to the fifth tier for 15 years resulting from recurrently dismal play and disinvestment – and documented their efforts on FX Network’s “Welcome to Wrexham”.
Reynolds, whose business interests include tequila and recently sold Mint Mobile and “At all times Sunny in Philadelphia” star McElhenney, was available for the team’s historic 3-1 win over Boreham Wood on Saturday.
They even he brought fellow actor Paul Rudd with him for a ride, with the “Ant-Man” star mingling with fans outside the world and drinking at an area pub.
As the ultimate horn sounded and victory was assured, Reynolds and McElhenney held one another for an extended time, and McElhenny appeared to wipe away tears because the fans around them burst into thunderous cheers and ran onto the sphere have fun.
It took the club, which saw an explosion in season pass sales, after their celebrity co-owners brought in latest players, a latest coach, a worldwide celebrity and high-profile sponsors reminiscent of TikTok and Expedia.
