A Hawaiian Airlines flight experienced such severe turbulence over the weekend that individuals fell out of their seats, injuring several flight attendants and passengers, including three hospitalized.
Five hours after an 11-hour flight from Honolulu to Sydney, Australia, the plane began experiencing “unexpected severe turbulence” on Friday. Guardian reported.
“The plane just went down. We weren’t prepared.” Sultan Basconyali, a passenger aboard a chaotic flight, told ABC News.
The intense turbulence caused the plane’s ceiling to crack and the oxygen masks to deploy, leaving the passengers dizzy.
In all of the commotion, some travelers jumped out of their seats, banging their heads on the roof of the plane.
“In front of us was a man who had walked all the best way. His head was on the roof. And it fell back,” added Basconyali.
Emergency services were at Sydney Airport on Friday evening when the plane with 163 passengers and 12 crew landed “without incidents”.

According to a spokesman for the Latest South Wales Ambulance Service, first responders treated 12 passengers, including three who were hospitalized for injuries, including back pain.
“Our immediate priority is the continued care of our passengers and crew affected by the turbulence, and we thank the staff at Sydney Airport for their prompt assistance,” a spokesperson for Hawaiian Airlines said.

The airline “conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft” before the return flight to Honolulu on Friday evening.
Trouble ensues as US travelers experienced an unparalleled level of chaos over the 4th of July weekend as hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled over the past week.
