Shakira took a personal fight and turned it into a song that fans wish to hear anytime, anywhere.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer recently contemplated her breakup Gerard Pique after 11 years together and the way their breakup led to her record-breaking collaboration with Bizarre “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”.
“I had a very hard yr after the breakup and writing this song was very essential to me,” she said during a March 10 performance on the show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “It was a healthy option to channel my emotions.”
A track that comprises lyrics that seemingly forged a shadow over Gerard and his latest girlfriend Clara Chia Marti, broke as many as 14 Guinness records, which was mentioned during her talk show appearance. The 46-year-old confessed that the success of the song made her feel as if her fan base included “sisters” of girls “who feel the way in which I do, who’ve needed to put up with as much shit as I do.”
