Representatives for Sherry-Lehmann, a 90-year-old high-end wine store, told my colleague Lisa Fickenscher last week they were “excited” to reopen the closed shop on Tuesday.
But as of Friday, the sign on the window only advertised: “Grand Reopening Soon!”
As first reported by Fickenscher, the venerable vino retailer was shut down by the State Liquors Authority last month after its liquor license expired.
She previously revealed that Sherry-Lehmann is behind on taxes, has multiple creditors and can’t fill her shelves.

It has been a tragic turnaround because the former owners, the Aaron family, made it essentially the most elegant wine merchant in the USA, several amazing vintages of which proudly remain in Realty Check’s small cellar.
The present owners renewed the license on March 22.
But when and if this place will return, nobody can guess.
