The web dating world will be unhinged at times. That is why 22-year-old Manhattan resident Clarke Peoples refused to go on a date with a guy she met online who invited her to a bar round the corner to his apartment – presumably to get her to have sex. Worse, he says the place he selected in Brooklyn had a patio that looked like “The Salvation Army opened a showroom with furniture that no one bought in 1984.”
When Peoples posted the twisted story on TikTok and Twitter, many commentators sided with the guy, not her. “No wonder you are single and desperate for attention on dating apps,” wrote one person. Our Post Poppin host Asia Grace says the Peoples “played smart” to avoid a horrific situation. She suggested that first dates happen “in a neutral, protected, middle space.” Whose side are you on?
