The number of “stars” that Starbucks customers in the US and Canada might want to receive certain food and drinks for free under the company’s rewards program is expected to extend in February.
When Starbucks Rewards members spend money at a coffee shop chain, they will earn stars, including two stars for every $1 when using a Starbucks card and one for every $1 using a credit or debit card. They’ll channel these stars into rewards reminiscent of free drinks and merchandise, depending on how much they’ve.
Starbucks Rewards program update, details on the company’s website, consists in increasing the number of “stars” needed to exchange items for three levels. Starbucks is also changing the levels through which certain food, beverages and other items could be purchased.
Changes, first reported Tuesday by Insider, went into effect on February 13. Based on Starbucks, US and Canadian Rewards members have been informed of the upcoming changes.
Based on the February changes, customers might want to earn 100 stars to receive:
- Hot brewed coffee
- Hot brewed tea
- Iced brewed coffee
- Iced brewed tea
- Bakery item
- A packaged snack
- One 24oz plastic To-Go cup with Cold Siren logo
- One 16oz plastic hot cup with Siren logo

For decent brewed coffee, hot brewed tea and baking, it will mean a rise of 50 stars from the 50 currently required to make use of them. Meanwhile, the star rating for free iced brew coffee, iced brewed tea and packaged snack drops by 50 stars.
Also latest to this level are takeaway cups.
The next items can be exchanged for 200 stars:
- Handmade drink
- Hot breakfast item
Customers can now be obtained a hand-crafted drink like a latte or a hot breakfast item like oatmeal for 150 stars.
Here’s what customers can get for 300 stars in February:
- A packed salad or sandwich for lunch
- Packed protein box
- Coffee in the package
Packaged foods that turn into 300 stars can now be redeemed for 200 stars. Packed Coffee, nevertheless, dropped one notch from 400 stars.
The bottom and highest reward tiers won’t change their point requirements, remaining at 25 and 400 stars respectively.
With a 25-star level, customers can redeem a drink modifier reminiscent of extra espresso or syrup. They will even still give you the chance to receive “chosen Starbucks merchandise as much as $20” by redeeming 400 stars in February.

In early November, Starbucks reported that the total number of energetic Starbucks Rewards members in the United States in the fourth quarter was 28.7 million, up 16% from the same period last 12 months.
At the time, it also said it generated $8.414 billion in revenue in the fourth quarter, up from $8.147 billion in the fourth quarter last 12 months. Quarterly net profit decreased from USD 1.764 billion to USD 878.3 million.
