Subway’s South location goes viral for posting a joke sign that wasn’t well received.
A person named Timothy Mauck snapped the image before the vacation weekend of a sign in Rincon, Georgia with a not-so-tasteful pun referring to the tragedy of the underwater Titan that killed five people.
“Our submarines don’t implode,” the sign read.
The unique post was shared nearly 800 times and garnered tons of comments from those that deemed the joke disrespectful.
“It’s just flawed,” one person said bluntly.
“I bet if it was their family they would not think it was so funny,” wrote one other referring to the victims.
Subway confirmed that somebody on the restaurant had placed the sign and that it was the truth is an actual photo.
“We’ve got been in touch with the franchise regarding this matter and have made it clear that there isn’t any place in our business for such comments,” a Subway spokesperson said. TODAY in an announcement. “The sign has since been removed.”

Just a few days later, Mauck posted a second photo within the comment section of his original post, showing the joke had been removed with a blank sign outside the identical restaurant.
