A barista has revealed one thing you should never do when ordering coffee – after which waiting for it.
Franco Amitrano, who owns Cafe & Cucina in Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia, revealed his job on the news.com.au podcast I actually have a message for you.
Amitrano has been brewing coffee for 25 years – producing a median of 500 to 550 cups a day.
So suffice it to say that he’s well versed in what separates customer from a foul one.
When asked by host Andrew Bucklow about “the little things customers do that annoy you,” Amitrano was diplomatic – at first.
“Look, I’m very patient. I like all my clients,” he began.
Before I admit: “The only thing that gets on my nerves sometimes is that they’ve headphones [in] AND [are] I check emails, call them for coffee, they usually don’t even notice. That is the only thing that annoys me.”
One other minor issue, Amitrano said, is that customers bring their cups for storage – without washing them first.

“[It’s a] A bit [annoying]. But we love our customers – we do not mind.”
As for whether baristas resent a customer who comes back after being rude, rest assured that Amitrano (at the least) doesn’t.
“No, we do not. We treat everyone the identical.”
