The fattest countries in the world have been revealed in a recent interactive map.
Map, published by Our World in Datauses data gathered from numbers from 195 countries around the world and shows huge differences in obesity rates.
Figures come from Collaboration on NCD risk aspectswhich recorded global trends in the years 1975-2016 at the level of 128.9 million people.
The statistics are based on body mass index (BMI) – specifically those that are underweight, obese or obese.
An individual is taken into account obese if their BMI – which is defined as an individual’s weight in kilograms divided by their height in meters squared – is the same as or greater than 25. A BMI of 30 or more is obese. A “healthy” BMI is eighteen.5 to 24.9, In response to the CDC.
The map revealed that 39% of the world’s adults were obese or obese, and 68% of Americans fell into these categories.

All of the top 10 fattest countries in the world were in the Pacific – with the distant island of Nauru taking first place.
Data shows that almost 9 out of 10 Nauruans are obese.
Palau Island got here second with 85.1% of the population obese or obese, followed by the Cook Islands (84.7%), Marshall Islands (83.5%) and Tuvalu (81.9%).
The US was ranked the fifteenth fattest country and the UK was ranked thirtieth.
On the other hand, Vietnam is taken into account the leanest nation with only 18.3% of Southeast Asians being obese or obese.
