From sighs to laughter and the occasional tear, 2022 has brought a rollercoaster of emotions in extreme face-to-face animal encounters captured on camera.
FOX Weather has compiled seven videos that piqued the interest of our readers and are value rewatching.
1.BUll Elk attacks a photographer in Colorado
A stressed bull moose with large antlers walked towards a person photographing the animal in Colorado.
The event took place on September 24 through the moose rut in Estes Park. Megan Foster recorded a video showing a moose walking towards a bunch of tourists before turning her attention to the person, who she said was making noise to get a response from the animal.
2.AA ligator found inside a Burmese python in Florida
An alligator has been found inside a large Burmese python in Florida.
“This particular python was about 18 feet long and it swallowed a 5-foot alligator,” said geologist Rosie Moore, who posted the video to Instagram where it garnered hundreds of reactions.
Moore said the python was found in the Florida Everglades but not in the national park. He was euthanized and transferred to a research lab for autopsy and scientific sampling.
3. Moose mayhem as a duet battle in Colorado’s driveway
Two bull moose went wild in a Colorado driveway in October as a family watched the spectacle unfold from a protected house in Steamboat Springs.
Charley Lodwick captured the fight on video as the fighting couple crashed right into a parked vehicle, sending the side mirror up in the air. The chaos continued moments later as one among the moose landed in the back of the truck.
4. Colorado the deputy rescues a dog from a burning vehicle
A Douglas County, Colorado deputy deputy was hailed as a hero after his efforts resulted in rescuing a dog from a burning SUV. The entire incident was recorded on a bodycam.
The scene took place on January 22 in a normally quiet suburb of Denver. In a video released by the sheriff’s office, Deputy Michael Gregork is seen driving right into a smoke-filled SUV in the neighborhood.
5. The emotional reunion of a chimpanzee with her baby ignites hearts
Should you’ve overlooked little Kuczeza, the viral video of him reuniting with his mother after a transient separation after birth is bound to warm your heart.
Mahale, the chimpanzee, gave birth to a baby boy by caesarean section on November 15 on the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas. His birth was celebrated with a tear-jerking video of the newborn being welcomed back into the arms of his loving mother after a two-day medical statement.
Five weeks later, the zoo’s animal care team said the infant chimpanzee was found dead and cradled in its mother’s arms after they arrived on the zoo on December 22.
6. A turtle fights a shark during an ocean battle off the coast of Australia
Sometimes the weaker wins, even when it is a turtle.
A drone video believed to have been shot in April captured the dramatic moments as a loggerhead turtle overcame an aggressive tiger shark off a distant beach in Western Australia.
Video shot by skilled drone operator Jack Garnett shows the turtle repeatedly using its shell to roll over an attacking tiger shark in clear blue water off the coast of Winderabandi.
7. Recent Jersey fishermen almost got hit by an enormous humpback whale
Fishermen who were fishing off the Recent Jersey coast in October have a reasonably good fish story to inform after returning home after being nearly hit by an enormous whale.
Zach Piller said he and his father Doug were fishing near Seaside Heights, and so they began filming when he noticed a whale’s tail protruding of the water nearby and a fish jumping right in front of them. Just a few seconds later, an enormous humpback whale crashed right next to their boat.
