Buzzy chatbot technology involves Slack in a latest way: Slack GPT, an in-app tool that enables users to shorten and customize the tone of messages, summarize missed messages in channels, assist with writing, take notes on conversations or “conferencing”, and more.
For instance, you can ask a chatbot to take notes of every little thing said in a Slack group chat. Slack GPT can also summarize dozens of messages you missed in a specific chat group when you were out of the office.

Sales forcewhich owns the workplace messaging app, announced the news on Thursday.
Ali Rayl, Slack’s senior vice chairman of product, told CNBC that he estimates AI chatbot tools will likely be rolled out over the subsequent 12 months, but declined to offer more details on a timeline for the rollout of those features.
“Truthfully, we have seen a number of interest… We now have a lot information [that] now we have a novel advantage here,” Rayl told CNBC. “All of the messages your organization has sent across all of your channels – it’s helpful … How can we use generative AI and make it more helpful to the corporate?”
Rayl added: “We’re fascinated with entering this territory, however the market continues to be pulling us there.”
The news follows Salesforce’s March decision to green light two chatbots, ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude, as third-party apps to be used on Slack, but their capability is proscribed in comparison with the native features announced Thursday.
Salesforce also announced the no-code features it’ll offer to professionals starting this summer. These include customer support tools comparable to AI-generated customer responses and case summaries; tools for developers and IT staff, comparable to automating incident management to find out the basis reason for an issue; and tools for marketers, comparable to automatic generation of campaign texts and images.
Customer chats and information won’t be stored or used as training data for AI tools, Rayl said.
“[We don’t want to] just toss something out and say, “Yeah, AI hallucinates sometimes, sorry,” Rayl said. “We’re doing really thoughtful product design.”
