Safety concerns have been raised after a young child was injured by a spiked object in a playground.
A toddler was stabbed with a spiked object hidden within the sand at Sindone Family Park in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast.
The local councilor in command of the park believes the item was left there on purpose.
“This little piece of garbage was armed and injured at the least one child,” Gold Coast, Australia councilor Hermann Vorster told 7NEWS.
Vorster says the kid was not seriously injured but has “serious concerns” concerning the family-friendly park.

“For those who’re the kind of one that thinks it’s okay to depart it within the sand, read your mind,” he said.
The plastic spikes aren’t the one thing left in Gold Coast parks that Vorster says has frightened the council and fogeys.
“Beer bottles left behind could be broken, thrown into the sand and might shut down a playground for days and even per week.”
