Health authorities are urging Australians not to search for toxic baby spinach as 164 people in Recent South Wales alone are reporting symptoms.
A national recall of baby spinach products from a Victorian farm – sold in Coles and Woolworths stores across the country – was issued after some people experienced hallucinations.
As of Sunday, NSW Health revealed that 164 had reported symptoms after eating baby spinach, of which a minimum of 42 had sought medical attention.
Among the many symptoms reported were delirium or confusion, hallucinations, dilated pupils, rapid heartbeat, facial flushing, blurred vision, and dry mouth.
A Queensland child was hospitalized over the weekend after eating leaves that health authorities said got here from Riviera Farms.
In an announcement, the farm said it had contacted all 20 retailers selling its products.
“The recommendation to our customers is to remove potentially contaminated spinach products from their shelves and advise their customers to do the identical,” they said.

While the investigation is ongoing, it is probably going that the spinach was contaminated with a toxic weed comparable to nightshade, jimson herb or mandrake root.
Weed could have contaminated the spinach crop because of this of the recent flooding.
Deputy Health Minister Ged Kearey said Food Standards Australia Recent Zealand was investigating the matter.

“I urge anyone who feels unwell, who could have eaten the affected products, to seek medical help immediately and phone the Poison Information Center on 13 11 26,” she said.
“We regularly communicate with regulators who’re continuing their investigation. All appropriate measures mandatory to keep people protected will proceed to be taken.”
