President Biden is “very focused on detail,” Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg insisted – after the 80-year-old commander-in-chief confused Ukraine and Iraq twice in 12 hours.
A cupboard member defended Biden after being asked: “What do you say to people who find themselves concerned about his age and mishaps just like the one he had today?” by CNN presenter Kaitlan Collins.
“Well, I’d say I wish you were within the room with him as I often am seeing him concurrently focused, big vision and really detail focused,” Buttigieg said.
“Look, this is an administration that has been extremely effective. And one in all the – truthfully, one in all the things that I made after I ran for president at an incredibly young age is that the one thing that actually matters is your ability to do the job.” – Former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana added.

Biden, the oldest president in U.S. history, announced in April that he would run for re-election in 2024, despite growing questions on his mental fitness.
If re-elected, the president would have turned 86 at the tip of his second term.
On Wednesday, Biden told reporters on the White House lawn that “[Putin’s] clearly lost the war in Iraq.”

The night before, during a speech at a fundraiser in Chevy Chase, Maryland, he made the same mistake.
“Give it some thought,” Biden said. “If someone had told you – and my staff wasn’t so sure either – that we might have the option to unite all of Europe in an attack on Iraq and achieve complete NATO unification, I believe they’d have told you that it is unlikely.”
On Thursday, the president faced a wave of ridicule online after he walked off the set of a live interview on MSNBC before host Nicolle Wallace was allowed to interrupt the show for a business.
Buttigieg argued that Americans should focus on the achievements of the Biden administration, not the blunders.
“Ultimately, everyone, no matter their job, needs to be judged by the work they do. In only two and a half years, this administration, under the leadership of President Biden, has achieved greater than many presidencies have been capable of do in 4 and even eight years,” he said.
