goal Twitter’s recent competitor Threads exploded in growth in its first full day since its public debut on Wednesday night, fueled by Instagram’s already huge user base. Text-based social media platform already has 70 million sign-ups, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg he said on Friday.
From Thursday afternoon, Edge reported that users had already posted greater than 95 million posts and 190 million likes, based on the corporate’s internal data they viewed.
Meta didn’t immediately respond to CNBC’s request on Friday morning to confirm the newest figures.

“Nobody on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter worker,” Meta Communications Director Andy Stone wrote at Threads in response to the letter. “It’s just not about that.”
Nevertheless, growth alone is just not enough to make Threads another to Twitter that will stand the test of time. The app must also show that it may keep users engaged and coming back.
While Twitter is thought for being heavily utilized by journalists, politicians, and academics and is where news often breaks, Meta’s Threads could have a much wider audience and deal with its link to Instagram, which has various uses as visual -based on the platform. Despite this, many politicians have already volunteered for service. Axios reported that on Thursday night greater than 1 / 4 of the 535 members of Congress from each chambers had created accounts, in addition to half a dozen Republican presidential candidates and top White House advisers.
