Night owls (or very early risers) will now pay less to ride on Amtrak.

Cheaper routes will serve stations in her Northeast Corridor like Latest York, Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and others. For instance, an overnight train from Latest York to Newark, NJ costs just $5.
The discounts are geared toward “travellers getting back from concert events, shows, sporting events or those preferring later or earlier departures,” the company wrote in a press release. Announcement on Thursday.
The brand new late-night price level could ease cost pressures on travelers who proceed to spend whilst inflation squeezes their wallets. For instance, flight bookings have remained strong as consumers focus on travel after the pandemic shutdown.
Amtrak’s Northeast route specifically has turn into costlier over the past 12 months, sometimes even surpassing airline tickets, as the corridor is popular with commuters and connects major cities across the region.
