From tennis champion to mother-to-be in lower than a year.
Former world primary and four-time Grand Slam champion Ash Barty announced on Friday is expecting her first child with husband Garry Kissick.
“2023 will likely be the very best year yet. We’re very enthusiastic about our recent adventure,” said the Australian. “Origi is already a caring big sister”
Barty used her cute border collie Origi to interrupt the news to her 516,000 Instagram followers.
The 26-year-old shocked the tennis community when she announced her retirement in March – two months away from winning the Australian Open.
Kissick, 32, issued a similar statement own Instagram with the caption “Little Red, 2023”.

The announcement of Barty and Kissick’s pregnancy took to social media as many tennis players congratulated the couple.
“Congratulations!!!! Baby Barty,” said former British tennis star Laura Robson.
“Congratulations Ash, I’m so completely satisfied,” commented former Australia No. 4 Jelena Dokic.

“Waouhhhhhhhhhh congratulations mate,” number 4 on the earth, added Caroline Garcia.
“We’re so completely satisfied for you, Ash Barty. Huge congratulations!” the Australian Open wrote on Twitter.
American Shelby Rogers joined the chat saying “Oh yay!!!! Congratulations! I’m so completely satisfied!”
Barty has a total of three Grand Slam titles to his name and won the doubles on the 2018 US Open.
It has been reported that Barty will likely be at Melbourne Park for this year’s Australia Open – not because the defending champion – but as a mentor to Olivia Gadecki, the Australian wildcard.
The Australian Open starts on January 15 and runs until January 29.
