The aircraft carrier VMS Eve is seen within the background shortly after the launch of VSS Unity firing its engine and accelerating throughout the company’s fourth spaceflight test, Unity 22, with founder Richard Branson on July 11, 2021.

pristine Galaxy plans to launch its own on May 25 one other spaceflight, marking each the first in almost two years from the founding father of flying, Sir Richard Branson, and the planned final step before entering business service.
Dubbed Unity 25, the mission represents the corporate’s fifth spaceflight thus far, launched from Spaceport America in Recent Mexico. This is a “final evaluation” flight, with six Virgin Galactic employees on board for a brief trip to the sting of space.
The update comes after a longer-than-expected refurbishment period for the corporate’s spacecraft: months after Branson’s flight, and following an FAA investigation into the mishap during his trip, the corporate halted operations for what was imagined to be an “eight to 10-month” process – but as an alternative it took almost 16 months.
Virgin Galactic shares rose nearly 7% Wednesday to shut at $4.50 a share. The corporate announced its first-quarter results earlier this month, which revealed mounting losses because it funds the event and expansion of its spacecraft fleet.

In-house pilots Mike Masucci and CJ Sturckow will pilot the VSS Unity spacecraft, while Jameel Janjua and Nicola Pecile will pilot the aircraft carrier VMS Eve. Within the passenger cabin might be Chief Astronaut Instructor Beth Moses, in addition to Astronaut Instructor Luke Mays, Senior Technical Manager Christopher Huie and Senior Internal Communications Manager Jamila Gilbert.
Virgin Galactic’s approach to space tourism is to ascend to an altitude of around 40,000 feet, launch the spacecraft and begin the engine to climb over 80 kilometers (or about 262,000 feet) – an altitude the US considers the limit of space.
Often called suborbital, such a spaceflight grants passengers a number of minutes of weightlessness, unlike the for much longer, tougher and costlier orbital flights conducted by Elon Musk’s SpaceX. After flying on his own ship in 2021, Branson told CNBC he hopes to fly with SpaceX.
Depending on the final result and data collected from Unity 25, the corporate intends to fly its first business mission “in late June”.
