U.S. product regulators said Thursday that Yeti recalled 1.9 million fridges and gearboxes because magnets could detach from them, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said consumers should stop using it immediately 4 recalled products and contact Yeti for refund information.
The closures of recalled products can fail, causing the magnets to detach, the CPSC said.
If swallowed, two or more high-powered magnets may develop into attracted to one another or to one other metal object and develop into lodged in the digestive system.
The CPSC said if this happens, it could actually cause perforations, twisting and blockage of the intestines, which may lead to infection, blood poisoning and death.
The recalled products are the Sidekick Dry Case, the M20 Soft Backpack Cooler, and the M30 Soft Cooler, Version 1.0 and 2.0.

The coolers and gear bags were sold at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ace Hardware, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Yeti and other retailers including Amazon from March 2018 to January 2023.
The gearbox costs around $50 and the radiators range from $300 to $350.
The corporate received 1,399 reports of degradation or failure of magnet-lined closures, including missing or detached magnets. No cases of magnet ingestion or injury have been reported.
