When he’s not busy overseeing a vital counter-offensive to send Russian forces on the “Highway to Hell,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky winds up listening to AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses.
The Ukrainian frontman talked about his musical tastes – and his intense morning routine of headbanging to the sound of classic rock – in a latest interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett.
Burnett, who traveled to Kiev to interview Zelensky greater than 16 months after the start of the war, asked the Ukrainian leader in a wide-ranging interview that aired Wednesday if he had time to calm down with reading or listening to music.
“I actually have moments like this,” Zelensky replied in English as he walked with Burnett in the sun-drenched garden.
“[It is] It is vital to be in silence, to be alone … I might be alone with music or with a book, early, early in the morning, when there are not any sounds.”

When asked what type of music he likes, Zelensky said: “I like AC/DC and Ukrainian music. After all, I like Ukrainian music very much, because Ukrainian is my mother tongue. Subsequently, you understand not only the music, you understand the words, etc.”
The 45-year-old former comedian turned president shyly admitted that while he didn’t “understand all the words” in AC/DC’s songs, he liked the “energy” in the Australian rock band’s hits.

Zelensky added that he also listens to Eric Clapton’s music and “a lot of Guns N’ Roses”, before joking that “perhaps it’s too old music.”
“I like it,” he added.
Zelensky, looking neat in his signature olive-green T-shirt, revealed he keeps fit by exercising each day between 6 and seven a.m.
The CEO’s workouts at the gym are accompanied by the sounds of his favorite music, “to which he adds energy [the whole] day,” Zelensky said.
Guns N’ Roses became aware of Zelensky’s comments and proudly retweeted the link to the CNN interview, captioning: “In good company.”
