Magnification is “doubling” its tech investments in the Asia-Pacific region because it seeks to bolster growth, the video communications firm said on Friday.
“There’s a lot happening in Asia, across the APAC region. About two years ago, we made a firm commitment to actually step up and add gas,” said Abe Smith, Head of Marketing.
“Whether or not now we have a full data center here in Singapore… [or] in India, efforts ahead with R&D center in each Chennai and Bangalore.”
This is despite the headwinds the company faces in the post-pandemic era as increasingly more people return to the office and resume business travel.
Zoom shares have fallen about 45% over the past yr.

Nevertheless, Smith said Zoom was “extremely optimistic” about the growth of its telephony product in the Asia-Pacific region.
He added that Zoom’s cloud-based telephony solution – offering services resembling unlimited national calls, text messages and call recording – now accounts for 10% of its revenue.
“This product has grown over 100% year-on-year, now representing greater than five and a half million places,” said Smith.
“We intend to supply limitless human connectivity … through countless products … that can allow people to attach and communicate with flexibility and selection.”

The corporate also recently announced its own Zoom IQ extensionan AI feature that summarizes chat threads and board sessions.
“AI is who we’re… Intelligence on the platform has at all times been there,” added Smith.
“If you happen to’re in a Zoom meeting and also you’re using something so simple as a virtual background, you are experiencing AI. If you need to suppress a barking dog in a meeting, [using] suppressing background noise, that is artificial intelligence.”
